That most lauded hire of the season aside -- you know, that new guy in Aran jumper at Kering's most prized brand's menswear show last January, there's another appointment buzz in fashion, Iceberg's Alexis Martial, whose Fall 2015 show was apparently his last,
has joined Carven to become the second half of the brand's twin creative directors, alongside accessories and shoes specialist Adrien Caillaudaud.
Both cut their teeth in Givenchy under Riccardo Tisci. Post-Givenchy, the womenswear desinger Martial was at Paco Rabanne (before Julien Dossena was decamped), meanwhile, Caillaudaud was at Marc Jacobs prior to Givenchy.

Names we have not heard but will soon be on every mouth of fashion starlets and stars and on their bodies as well with the duo's body of work come Autumn. Maybe a day after the show itself, on a famous pop artist or actress (see: Madonna and Rihanna in Alexander Wang's Fall 2015 boots).
Carven was previously helmed by Guillaume Henry
(now in at Nina Ricci) and he did so in a span of five (5) years beginning in 2009 by raising the ante of the then-sleepy brand, both with critical acclaim and commercial success, into an insouciant embodiment of Gallic style. Henry, himself, was taken on at Givenchy in the early aughts.
What's to come for Carven can be tipped by Martial's strong four-season performance over at Iceberg.
As I pointed in my tumblr, the preciseness of his work can be compared to that of Nicolas Ghesquière.
I wouldn't mind at all borrowing a women's sweater of his design.
But for and from now, I will start rooting for the duo. If they will be a pairing as good as Chiuri & Piccioli or Bartley & Hillier

Clearly their talents — Martial in womenswear, Caillaudaud in accessories — are diverse and complimentary.
- Fashionista.comwe will have to stay tuned.
